Dr. Franziska K. Dutton was born and raised in Berkeley, California. After graduating from the University of the Pacific Dental School in 2001, she practiced in Oakland for three years before moving to Redding in 2004. Dr. Dutton chose dentistry as a career because many aspects of dental disease are preventable and certainly treatable. As the oldest of 10 children, she has a lot of patience (especially for those individuals fearful of dental treatment).
Dr. Dutton is a member of the American Dental Association and California Dental Association, and is also a Certified Dentist in the Bale and Doneen Method of Heart Attack, Stroke and Diabetes Prevention. She is passionate about early dental intervention techniques to minimize both the financial and physical impacts of dental disease.
Dr. Dutton spends a lot of time and investment in continued education, focusing primarily on preventative dentistry and conservative restorative treatments, as well as treating kids under eight years old using the Myobrace® System. This system focuses on guiding craniofacial growth and development, and nasal breathing which maximizes skeletal and dental development prior to starting braces.
Dr. Dutton practices Antibiotic Stewardship which is the effort to measure and improve how antibiotics are prescribed by clinicians and used by patients. Improving antibiotic prescribing and use is critical to effectively treat infections, protect patients from harms caused by unnecessary antibiotic use and combat antibiotic resistance.
In her free time, Dr. Dutton enjoys the great outdoors, including hiking, cycling, water sports, gardening and learning everything about growing one’s own food and becoming self-sufficient. She enjoys wine tasting, reading books on health and loves spending time with her husband, Daniel, her two boys and nine younger siblings.
